Nestled in the Val d’Elsa of Tuscany sits the beautiful agritoursimo Al Gelso Bianco where we took part in a family cooking class.
I was looking for a family cooking class that would be a little more complex than the pizza classes that you usually find throughout Italy. We all wanted to learn how to make pasta, one of our favourite things to eat! Through lots of internet research I found Al Gelso Bianco located about an hour away from our apartment.
We arrived to the property and were greeted by Vittoria who took us to the beautiful kitchen where we met our instructors Stefania and Susanna. We had such a great time learning how to roll our own pasta, stuffing ravioli and making gnocchi nudi. We prepared vegetables for sauces and a side dish and watched as Stefania prepared the most delicious apple cake.
After all the prep was done we were taken on a tour of the property to see how their wines are produced and got to sample some as well. Irene, the owner of the estate is so lovely and very passionate about the work they do at the resort. She has great plans to add a wine producing activity for children in the future!
During our tour and tasting Stefania and Susanna finished cooking our dishes and we enjoyed them in the beautiful dining room. The dishes were so delicious and we were so excited to have made them ourselves. We can’t wait to try the recipes at home!
It was such a wonderful experience and the hospitality shown by the ladies of the resort are second to none. If you’re ever in the Tuscany region I would definitely recommend visiting Al Gelso Bianco and taking part in a cooking class.
Grazie mille Irene, Stefania, Susanna and Vittoria!
Disclaimer: Thank you Al Gelso Bianco for hosting us for a lovely afternoon. We received a free family cooking class in exchange for an unbiased review of our experience. As always, opinions are my own.
