The question I get the most when I tell people about our long term travel plans is “What about the kids and school?”
When we decided to embark on this adventure I also wanted this to be a journey into homeschooling, or more appropriately, worldschooling where my kids would learn through real-life experiences on the road.Let the world be their teacher, let the sights and sounds around them become the subjects of their journal entries, math problems and day-to-day activities. This will be an ongoing topic throughout our year abroad and I’ll discuss how we’re educating the kids in future posts.
One way to get the kids engaged in a new country is with a scavenger hunt. I designed these printables with popular attractions and sights of the countries we will visit. It’s a great way for the kids to observe their surroundings and connect with the things they’ve seen throughout their travels.
So far it’s been a hit! We had it with us when we did a Hop-On Hop-Off tour of the city, our daily excursions and even in the Louvre!
They’re available now as an instant download through our new Etsy store. Just print and you are ready to go! More locations will be added as I make them. If you have suggestions or requests for other destinations let me know! So far these are customized to suit our travel itinerary. I would love to design other versions to be part of your adventures!
